God is My Friend

by Chet Nowlen

Every day I hear God speak to me though not with my external hearing or my ears. He speaks to me through my internal hearing. His voice sounds like my voice as I hear myself when I speak. When I speak out loud the voice you hear is different than the voice I hear internally.

The Lord speaks to me through His Holy Spirit. Every time this happens I wish I could somehow write it down or record it as I have heard many great sermons in my internal ear. One time while picking peas in a large garden and then several times while driving alone on long trip.

The Lord seems to especially talk to me while driving to work. I start out talking to Him out loud praising Him and give Him thanks for another day and for the wonderful blessings He has given. He loves to hear my praises as it is my way of giving back to Him the thing He wants most from all his children. I talk to Him as I would my friend and He talks back to me in that sam manor.

Jesus is God, but Jesus also is a man just like you and me. He is in heaven, but yet He lives in my through His Holy Spirit. He has feelings and emotions, and He understands our hurts, life disappointments, and our joys.

Those that know Him recognize His voice when He speaks:

John 10 (Amplified Bible)
1. I ASSURE you, most solemnly I tell you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way (elsewhere, from some other quarter) is a thief and a robber.

2. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3. The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out.

4. When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.

5 .They will never [on any account] follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers or recognize their call.

Jesus will not recognize the voice of those who never talk to Him:
John (Amplified Bible)
21. Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.

22. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name?

23. And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].(C)

God recognizes us by the fruits of His spirit that lives in us:

Galatians 5:22 (Amplified Bible)
22. But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,

A Great Recipe

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to__________ today. I am thankful for______________'

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli , almonds & walnuts.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business.

19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job won't t ake care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for__________. Today I accomplished_________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You'll be smiling before you know it.

A Father Misses His Children

By Chet Nowlen

One day recently I was sitting alone on a park bench. I turned to my right and a man was sitting on the bench with me, but had a very sad face with tears streaming down his cheaks.

I ask the man why was he so sad. He said he was grieving for his children. I asked if his children were deceased and he said, "No, they are just so far away from me and they do not need me any more.' 'They don't recognize my voice when I call them.' 'They are too busy for me."

Told the man I can relate to how much that hurts as my children and their families live in another state and I hardly ever get to see them. The man said, "My children are very close and I talk to them every day, but they do not hear me.' 'They never have the time to call on me. 'I just miss the talks we used to have.' 'I miss them sharing their problems and looking to me for help."

My head was bent down as he was sharing his hurt and tears were rolling down my face too. I look up towards where the man was sitting but he was gone. I knew who he was now and felt ashamed because he was grieving for me. He was a part of God we know as The Holy Spirit. My Lord and my God was missing me. His Holy Spirit was grieving for our time together.

I rose to me feet and started walking on the walking trail, at the park, crying and praying out loud as I walked around the trail. Eventually the crying stopped and was replaced with joy as I expressed my love to the Father and He back to me.

I make it a point to talk to my Heavenly Dad everyday to praise Him and give Him thanks for everything. I sometimes ask Him for advise to help in certain situations as I talk to Him as my best friend. When I talk to Him I worship Him, I give praise back to Him for all the many wonderful things He has provided for me and my family.

He is waiting to hear from you too. In all things, even in times of difficulty, give Him thanks. "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus Concerning you." I Thessalonians 5:16-18

This was writen for you to let you know that giving your Heavenly Father thanks for all He's done is His will for you. He's been calling you hasn't He? You have felt Him calling but didn't recognize his voice. He's waiting for you - now is the time to talk to Him.
