Did You Take Care Of My Body - Part 2

The Good News is Jesus overcame the world and what that means to us is those of us who are born of God can also overcome the world through faith in Jesus Christ.  Did you know every person has a choice whether to overcome the world or to be overcome by the world?  The enemy hates people so much his mission in his miserable existence is to steal, kill and destroy us.  Jesus came to give us the ability to overcome the world through Him.

We have the choice as to whether we let the cares of this world (Satan's deceptive tool against us) make ineffective for Christ or we can chose to take sides with Jesus and let Him help us overcome the world.  Who's side are you on right now?  Have you let the cares of this world ruin you life?  Did you know that another tool the enemy uses against us is addiction?  When we think of addiction we first think of drugs and alcohol.  But, there are many addictions the enemy uses against us and I believe they are outlined in 1 John 2:16

16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Jesus overcame all three of these areas mentioned in the scripture and He expects us to also overcome these addictions.  I've have mentioned this scripture previously and I think it is very important for us to understand what He expects of His followers.

Here is some hard question for you.
  1. Would you say that an obese believer is an overcomer?
  2. Which areas of the world does the obese believer have an addiction?
          a. the lust of the flesh
          b. the lust of the eyes
          c. the pride of life
          d. all three

Please feel free to share your answer.

What does Jesus have to say about the difference between those that overcome and those that chose not to over come?

Revelation 21:7-8 New King James Version (NKJV)

He who overcomes shall inherit all things,[a] and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the
  • cowardly (fearful - Christians who through cowardice give way under persecutions and apostatize)
  • unbelieving (doubting) (unfaithful, faithless, (not to be trusted, perfidious)
  • abominable (to be disgusted, i.e. (by implication) detest (especially of idolatry)
  • murderers
  • sexually immoral (a man who indulges in unlawful sexual intercourse, a fornicator)
  • sorcerers (a drug, i.e. spell-giving potion); a druggist ("pharmacist") or poisoner, i.e. (by extension) a magician:—sorcerer. Witchcraft also fits this group)
  • idolaters (a. worshipper of false gods, a idolater - used of any one even Christian, participant in any way in the worship of the heathen, esp. one who attends their sacrificial feasts and eats of the remains of offered victims - a covetous man as a worshipper of Mammon (the demonic god of wealth or riches)
  • and all liars a- lying, deceitful, false - in my personal opinion I believe those that gossip also fit this group - definition of gossip -  casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.
shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Now I've noticed that obesity is not mentioned in the above scripture as far as those people going to hell.  I believe an obese person is not going to hell because they have not overcome their addiction to food, but I am saying that the obese person is in bondage to a worldly addiction.  This addiction can cause the believer to be ineffective as a servant of Christ:
Ineffective definition: not producing any significant or desired effect.

  • unsuccessful, unproductive, fruitless, unprofitable, abortive, futile, purposeless, useless, worthless, ineffectual, inefficient, inefficacious, inadequate; feeble, inept, lame, powerless, impotent, incompetent, incapable, unfit, inept, weak, poor, useless, hopeless

The reason I am concerned about the obese is because I am one of those obese people.  I have been overweight since I was around eleven or twelve years of age when I became addicted to chocolate milk.  At age twelve I became obese and I have been battling my weight ever since then.

On the first of April I have made up my mind that I am no longer be an addicted slave to food.  I changed my diet to intermitten fasting along with restricting my foods to high fat and low carbs.  I am determine, with the Lord's help to overcome my food addition because I no longer want to feel ineffective for Christ.

If you would like for me to keep you posted on my progress please let me know.

Did You Take Care of My Body?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[a] and in your spirit, which are God’s.

As I was in my quiet time with the Lord this morning a thought came to my mind as I believe the Holy Spirit was speaking to me the following words: "Did you take care of my body?"  His statement kind of shocked me this morning as I realized I had not done a good job of taking care of my body.

The theme of this blog is to hear the words of Jesus says to me when I stand before Him, ". . . Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord." Matthew 25:21 This morning, however, the thought came to my mind instead of hearing "Well Done" He ask me, "Did you take care of My body"?  I immediately felt shame as I knew that I had not always been faithful in taking care of my body, which is actually His body because He purchased me with His own blood.  His sacrifice of death, burial and resurrection freed my entire being.  My  body, soul and body was redeemed from the curse of death that I was born into the world with.  When I accepted Him and what He did for me He became my God, my Lord and my  Savior.  My life, my body, soul and spirit are no longer mine as I now belong to Jesus.

Not only is Jesus my savior from the curse of sin and death (hell) He is also my source of everything.  He is my Lord and Master and not my job is to trust in Him in every part of my being.    Jesus not only saved my spirit man He also saved my mental and physical man.  He paid the ultimate price for every part of my being.

In my early years I did not understand this therefore did not understand the importance of giving my body and my health to Him or to trust Him as my source for not only salvation, but also for healing of my body and my soul (my mind, will, and emotions).

Rather than bore you with my life's history of illness since my preteen years I will say that it all started when I became addicted to sugar and high carb foods.  Since age twelve I have been overweight and was first diagnosed with high blood pressure at age thirteen.  Back then I did not have any idea of why I was always so hungry and why I could not stop myself from going back for seconds.

There was a period of time during my late twenties when I changed my health due to a diet that my doctor put me on.  It was called the "Lipid Lowering Regimen".  When I began the diet I weighed over 200 pounds and after three month on the diet I lost down to 165 pounds and dropped my pant size from size 38 to 34.  The good new is the doctor stated that my blood work numbers were totally normal and I no longer needed any medications.  The bad new is my wife, at the time, complained to my doctor that I was losing too much weight and convenience him to take me off the diet.  The rest of the bad news is the doctor took me off the diet and I gained all my weight back plus much more.  Why did I gain the weight back?  Unrestrained eating caused me to becoming addicted to sugar and carbohydrates again.

Another thought came to mind this morning: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge"

Hosea 4:6 New King James Version (NKJV)

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.

The enemy is doing his best to steal, kill and destroy us and I suspect there are three areas that he is the most effective in his destruction strategy: (1) money (2) food and (3) sex.  The enemy's plan is to cripple us in one or more of these three main areas.  Today we are focused on food, but in later posts I will share more of what the Lord has revealed to me on the other two.

The following scripture reveals what I believe are the tools the enemy uses against us:

1 John 2:16 New King James Version (NKJV)

16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh (money, food and sex), the lust of the eyes (food, money and sex), and the pride of life (money and sex)—is not of the Father but is of the world.

One other thing the Lord inspired me to say today is that my job is to share what I have learned with all who will listen as a mentor. I pray today's blog post has been a blessing to you and that you too will share what the Lord has revealed to you as a mentor..

Your Health is Your Wealth - Part 2

30 Days to a New You eCourse

2 Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually]. 3 John 2 Amplified Version

Dear Friends,

About this time last year I posted on this blog "Your Health is Your Wealth" part 1 to promote my services as a Health Coach or Wellness Tutor.  The bad news is I did not succeed in my marketing efforts therefore I became discouraged and abandoned the program and unfortunately I also abandoned the healthy eating habits I had learned during my Health Coach training.

Towards the end of last year I was ill for several months because of a urinary track infection. My Urologist performed a Cystoscopy and found that I had bladder cancer.  I have heard that sugar causes cancer and I am now convinced that sugar does cause cancer and many other health problems as well.  Sugar in foods is the number one cause of obesity and obesity is the cause of health issues, i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated triglycerides and cholesterol level, heart issues just to name a few.

On April 1 this year I made a decision to put my Health Coach education to work on myself first and if I can be a success at helping myself get rid of the fat and regain my health then I am qualified to help others regain their health too.

When you are suffering from poor health the medical bills will drain you of your wealth.  I am convinced that in order for me to succeed and prosper financially, I must be in good health physically and spiritually.

If you are interested in improving your overall health too I recommend that you register for  a free, health specific, eCourse "30 Days to a New You".  To register please submit your request using the "CONTACT FORM" on the left sidebar of this blog.  Please be sure to provide your name and email address.  You will receive 8-lessons within the first 30 days.
