Live For Him

“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus:
that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all,
that those who live should live no longer for themselves,
but for Him who died for them and rose again.”

Are You A Prophet

Most people think of being a prophet as one foretells the future and often we think of gloom and doom prophets.  Old Testament prophets typically warned God's chosen people of pending judgement if they change their ways.  Many of these prophets were killed because the people did not want to hear what these people had to say.  They were comfortable with their rebellion against God and were so hard headed they refused to stop their idolatry.  They broke God's first commandment and thought they would get away with it.

God was very patient with His rebellious people and spoke warnings through His prophets to the point He could not do it any longer.  God is a just God and he had no choice, but to allow the judgement to happen.  These rebellious people caused their own disaster by refusing to serve the living God and creator.  They chose to worship images made with their own hands that did not have any life or power.

Are you a prophet? God spoke through the people He called to be prophets and He will speak through prophets again in these last days.  If you are a believer you have God's words in a book we call the Bible and you have God's words in your heart.  We are not necessarily the kinds of prophets like Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah and others, but God does speak through the believer to others.

How are we prophets?  I think the number one thing we have to understand is the believer does not think of himself or herself as a prophet because it can cause one to be puffed up and think they are something special.  We as believers exhibit the fruits of the Spirit by walking in the Spirit as mentioned in Galatians 5 especially verses 22-26.  Because we walk by the Spirit the Spirit speaks through us as He desires and when He desires.  I do not have the ability to turn the Spirit and on and off at my will.  He speaks through me to others at His will.  There has been times when a person has asked my advice about a particular subject that they are troubled with and I did not have a deep spiritual word of wisdom for them.  All I could do was listen and let them know that cared about what they were going through.  Then there has been other times when people have mentioned to me about something that was going on in their life and I was able to share things that I had never thought of before.  I was saying things I did not know or did not know I knew.  And, every time the individual told me that this was exactly what they need to know or to hear.  They went a way blessed and encouraged.

Is speaking and teaching God's Words a form of a prophet? I believe that those who speak God's words whether in a pulpit, a classroom, or one to one, should also teach what God is saying.  We are like the "Watchmen on the Wall" (Isaiah 62:6) that warns of danger and I think it also means for us to encourage and exhort one another.  I believe your job, as a prophet is immerse yourself in His Words and let His Spirit teach you through your studies so that you will be able to encourage others and teach them how to worship and praise God.  I believe that the believer that allows themselves to be used by the Lord operates not only in the gift of prophecy, but walk in all the natural fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5) and in the supernatural gifts of the Spirit as He wills.  Notice it's His will and not our will.  We cannot turn these supernatural gifts on and off as we please.

What about false prophets?  A few months ago I wrote an article titled "I Never Knew You" based on the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:21-23.  The prophets mentioned here are false prophets that attempted to use Jesus' name for the wrong reasons.  I believe they are people that attempt to manipulate others to believe something that is not true.  These false prophets have people believe everything is okay as there is more than one way to heaven and God would not send anyone to hell.  Jeremiah talks about this kind of false prophet in Jeremiah 14:13-14.  Notice ". . . The prophets prophesy lies in My name . . . ".  This is the same thing Jesus is talking about in Matthew 7 above.

What can I do? There are hurt and lost people that cross your path everyday.  Some of those people God deliberately sent to your path in order for you to be a blessing to them.  God knows what individuals are going through and He hears their prayers, their cry for help.  He is looking for those who will allow Him to minister through.  If you feel this calling on your life just relax and trust in Him He will send people to you.  Don't worry about what you are going to say as He is with you.  Let His Spirit flow out of you living waters.  Should you decide to accept your calling you will be rewarded exceeding and abundantly.

What About The Gift of Prophecy!

What is a prophet?  A prophet is a person that says what God told them to say and the test of a true prophet is their prophesies always come to pass.  Why?  Because what the Lord says happens just as He says it will.  His words to not return back to Him void!  "God's word goes forth from His mouth and does not return to Him void, but it accomplishes what He pleases and it prospers for which He sent it."  Isaiah 55:11

Are there any prophets today?  Yes, there are people claim that they are prophets and make predictions about future events.  There was once a famous female so called prophet that I want to mention here was a false prophet.  Here name was Jean Dixon and she was a self-proclaimed physic and astrologer that made predictions of future events, but the failed the test of a true prophet because all of her predictions did not come to pass.  There are others today that make false predictions based on astrology and sorcery (as I mentioned in my previous article "You Who Are Given To Pleasures").  Click on this link Jean Dixon for an excellent article about her.

Are there any prophets in the church today?  Yes, there are people that stand in the pulpit, and even laymen, that claim to be a prophet.  While attending a Sunday night church service a visiting pastor called several people out of the audience and made future predictions about several them.  I looked at my wife while this was going on and I said, "Let's get out of here!"  We made a beeline for the doors and never came back to this church.  Why? My spirit sensed that this man was evil.

Was this preacher operating in the gift of prophecy the Bible talks about?  Was he operating in one of the Gifts of the Spirit? I know this is a controversial subject as some denominations teach that many of the gifts of the spirit ended because they were no longer necessary.    I do not believe the gifts of the spirit ended as some teach.  I believe the enemy has caused division in the church using deception that has caused people to not believe all of the Bible.  On the other side of the church world is the extremes mentioned the so called prophets mentioned above have caused this type of church to alienated themselves from traditional denominations that believe that some the gifts of the spirit ended.

Are there any Bible passages that the mainstream churches refuse to talk about?  During a Sunday morning life group a pastor was quoting various scriptures about what where Jesus went when He died on the cross.  As I stated the pastor mention several verses, but He left out one.  I asked the pastor what about 1 Peter 3:18-20 where Jesus preached to the spirits (spirit man absent from his body) in prison (paradise) and eight people were saved.  He stated, "This scripture is one of the scriptures not generally accepted by the church pastors is why we to not teach anything about this verse."  I was rather shocked by his comment as it meant that the church pastors get together and decide which scriptures a revelant for the body to hear and which are not worthy of being mentioned.  I thought this denomination believed that the entire Bible was written under the divine inspiration of God.  "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for the reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God can be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:15-17  I don't know about you but this pastor's statement is very upsetting to me.

Are there any false prophets in the church today? On another occasion I visited a service by a traveling evangelist that claimed to be a prophet of God.  He attempted to prove his prophetic ministry by saying things like, "I see in my spirit a black man sitting in his recliner at home right now because he refused to come to church with his wife Alma.'  Is Alma here is the audience with us today?"  A lady stood up and said, "Yes, I am Alma!"  The evangelist asked her if her husband's name was George and she said, "Yes, his name is George."  He asked her, "Where is George?"  She said, "He's at home watching TV in his recliner."  The evangelist asked her, "Why didn't George want to come tonight?"  She said, "George is not a believer and thinks church people are liars".  The evangelist claimed that George is watching a Christian program on TV right now and has accepted Christ as his savior.  The evangelist called out several physical symptoms that people in the audience were suffering from and called the individuals out by name.  There appeared to be signs and wonders preformed during these meeting, but my spirit cautioned me that something is wrong here.

This reminds me of the 1992 "Leap of Faith" movie with Steve Martin and Debra Winger.  Movie critic Roger Ebert stated, "Leap of Faith" is the first movie to reveal the actual methods used by some revivalists and faith healers to defraud their unsuspecting congregations."  Read the full article: http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/leap-of-faith-1992 .  Now do not get me wrong as I am a Christian and I do not have anything against church, however I do have a problem with pulpit manipulation.  Experienced Priests, Pastors, Evangelist, TV evangelist and teachers very skilled in the art of manipulation because they want to control what people think and believe both spiritually and politically. People can easily be deceived if they are not rooted and grounded in the Word.  My advice is to study the Word for yourself so that you can rightly divide what is truth and what is false.

I do believe there are true prophets in the body of Christ and I will explain more about this later.

Doing Good To All

Continue your well doing!
Galatians 6 (NKJV)

6 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Not Circumcision but the New Creation
11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!

12 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to[b] the Israel of God.

17 From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

The Lord is My Supply

“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”  ‭Luke‬ ‭12:29-31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
