Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Have you every heard a song that just keeps playing over and over in you head? One of my favorite's is a Hillsong YouTube video "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" and every time I watch this video I hear the song over and over all day.  Below you will find the words to the song and the YouTube video link.  I hope you will enjoy the song as much as I do.
  1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
  • Refrain:
    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
  1. Through death into life everlasting
    He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are!
  2. His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
    His perfect salvation to tell!

What A Friend

I would like to introduce you to my best friend.  His name is Jesus.  Some people, that do not know Him, are afraid of Him because they have not understood His Love for them.  It's not our love for Him that is so important.  It's His love for us that He was willing to sacrifice His life for ours. 1 John 4:10  Read all of 1 John 4 for the full understanding of what love is.

There was a song written about Him titled "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and I would like to share with you the story of the man that wrote the words of this wonderful hymn.

God Breaths Life In His Words

The picture shown here is very simple, but yet illustrates how God inspired all the writings in the Bible.  It was written by men who were inspired by God.  God breath His words in the hearts of man for the purpose of writing His words for us to read and receive.  Every time we read His words He is breathing His words into our hearts.

It is true we may not always understand His words at first, therefore requiring us to meditate (study) on His words and research His words until our minds can comprehend what He has to say to us.

God said that King David was a man after His own heart.  Why would He say that when we know David did not always live an upright example for us to follow?  The thing that was special about David is David was inspired, by God, to write down his thoughts of praise and worship towards our Heavenly Father.  David continually thought about God and he worshiped God by singing and praising God even when he failed God through sin.

David's example to us is to also live and a constant state of praise and worship of The Father even when we fail.  The enemy would love for David to look at his failures and give up, but David did not waist time dwelling on his failures.  David invested His time in praise and worship and this is why God called David, "A Man After My Heart".  Because of David's constant state of praise and worship God blessed and protected David in the many battles he faced as a soldier and also as a King.

The lesson for us today is we are to change our focus from constantly thinking about ourselves, our weakness, disabilities, failures, disappointments, and our sin, to being in a constant state of worship and praise just as David did.  Sing songs and hymns, quote Psalms, quote God's word just as Jesus did and you will see miracles happen in your life.  You will experience joy and peace like you have never experience before no matter what your circumstances are.

The following is an example of how David worshipped God.  What's so great about David's example is you too can write down your own words of praise and worship.  You can sing your songs of praise and worship as the Holy Spirit inspires you.

The Glory of the Lord in Creation
To the Chief Musician. On the instrument of Gath. A Psalm of David.
Psalm 8:1-9 (NKJV)
O Lord, our Lord,

How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants

You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,

The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,

What is man that You are mindful of him,

And the son of man that You visit him?

For You have made him a little lower than the angels,

And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;

You have put all things under his feet,

All sheep and oxen—

Even the beasts of the field,

The birds of the air,

And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,

How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Ministry of Condemnation

Did Jesus operate in the Ministry of Condemnation?  We find the term "Ministry of Condemnation" mentioned in 2 Corinthians 3:8-10 - notice Paul says "if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory . . ."  Paul is saying to me that there is not any glory to be had in a ministry of condemnation.  The problem is we have all suffered from the feelings of guilt and condemnation.  Even believers are still in bondage to condemnation because of a lack of understanding what Jesus came to do and did accomplish in His Ministry.

John 3:16-18 says that God did not send Jesus to the world to condemn the world but rather through Jesus we are saved and no longer condemned.  So why would a believer still have feelings of condemnation?

I believe it is because the believer has not understood their position In Christ is a position of righteousness In Him and not of ourselves.  The Ministry of Condemnation is a tool used by the enemy to manipulate and control believers into believing his lies, therefore rendering the believer non effective against him.

Paul said in Romans 8:1-2 NKJV "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

Woman caught in adultery
In John 8 we read that early in the morning the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman that was supposedly caught in the act of adultery.  I don't think these religious leaders really cared about the woman or who she was having an affair with at all.  Their purpose was to trap Jesus.  Jesus turned their own ministry of death belief system back in their faces.  Jesus did not break the law as they had hoped He would.  Instead He bent down and wrote on the cobble stone floor.  Notice that the law, the ten commandments was written on stone tablets.  Jesus bent down and wrote on the stone floor.  Then He looked up and said, "He that is without sin among you, let him cast the stone at her first."  Jesus bent down again and began writing on the stone floor.  One by one the accusers walked away beginning with the oldest because their hearts were convicted of their own sins.
Jesus looked up and all the accusers were gone.  He asked the woman, "Where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?"  She answered, "No one Lord."  And Jesus answered, "Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more."
You would naturally think that condemnation would cause one not to sin, but the truth is the ministry of condemnation actually causes one to sin all the more.  If Jesus had not said to the woman, "Neither do I condemn you . . ." she would have continued doing the same old sins.  When she realized she was free from the condemnation of sin so was no longer in bondage to sin.  I believe the woman went away with a changed heart and no longer willfully sinned as she had before.
I cannot find in the scriptures where this woman is mentioned by name, but most believe the woman is Mary Magdalene.  If the woman caught in adultery was Mary Magdalene then the adulterous woman was changed into a woman that because one of Jesus' most dedicated followers.  I believe that is is possible that Mary Magdalene is the woman mentioned that anointed Jesus with the expensive perfume, anointed His feet,  and washed His feet with her tears.

The Ministry

In my last article I told you about The Ministry of Reconciliation and the Bible mentions some other ministries that you may not remember reading before:
Today we will focus on two of the above ministries;
  • Your Ministry - think of the word "your" without the "Y" and it becomes our ministry.  What is our ministry?  Many believers have not ever thought of themselves as having a ministry.  It's a matter of accepting our ministry and then doing it.  Again, what is our ministry?  I love the way 1 Timothy 4:11-13 explains it; command and teach it to one another by being an example by what we say and do and love one another.  Take the time to read the scriptures, to encourage others, and explain the words of the scriptures to one another.  The hard part of our ministry is explained in 2 Timothy 4:4-6 Some people we talk to in our everyday lives will not want to hear what we have to say as they as so confused.  And, sad to say, some of these confused people are church attenders.  They have been confused because of erroneous teaching from the pulpit that has a mixture of "Ministry of Condemnation", Ministry of Death" and false doctrines which are not in the scriptures.  Some denominational pastors are mixing these two ministries as a way of manipulating or controlling their congregation belief system.  Our ministry is to not allow ourselves to be contaminated by these false ministries by being on constant guard by keeping our minds focused on what the Word says and not what man says.  The scripture says we are to endure afflictions.  Afflictions can be either sickness or persecutions.  I think this scripture is referring to persecutions because of our faith in Jesus Christ.  Our calling is to endure persecutions and yet be an evangelist by sharing the gospel which is sharing our story of what Jesus has done in our lives.  By doing this we are fulfilling our calling, "Our Ministry".
The good news is we are not alone as we cannot do this by ourselves.  We have the help of The Holy Spirit" known here as the Ministry of the Spirit.
  • Ministry of The Spirit - read all of 2 Corinthians 3 for a beginning introduction of this ministry in contrast to two other ministries mentioned in this chapter; Ministry of Condemnation and Ministry of Death.
I think the best scriptural description of the Ministry of the Spirit is found here:
  • Differences of Ministries of the Spirit or gifts1 Corinthians 12:5 - Read the Whole Chapter  - The success of our ministry is dependent upon our allowing The Holy Spirit to work through us the gifts of the Spirit when He gives them to us at His will, no ours.  Just as we are different people The Holy Spirit gives us all different gifts at different times for use as He sees the need.  We do not have the power to operate in the gifts whenever we want to.  It is The Holy Spirit that turn them on and off according to His will - Hebrews 2:3-5
Work of Ministry
  • Our work of Ministry - read all of Ephesians 4 as this chapter pretty much sums up "Our Ministry"
Pursue Love and desire spiritual gifts - 1 Corinthians 14 ". . . especially that you may prophesy."  What does it mean to prophesy?  The word brings fear to many believers because there have been false prophets that have predicted specific events that never happened.  The Bible has had many prophets that spoke for God and predicted events had have happened and some that have not happen yet, but will happen in due time.  I believe the Holy Spirit reveals things to us in several different ways.  Through dreams and also through revelation that often occurs during study of the scriptures.  Another way is through an anointing of the Spirit.  I remember this anointing flowing through me on more than one occasion while teaching a Sunday School class.  I heard myself saying things I did not know. I could not have know those things if The Holy Spirit had not revealed them to me.  Peter had a similar experience when he said to Jesus. " . . . you are the Christ the son of the Living God."   I believe this is a form of prophecy because the Holy Spirit is revealing secrets to our hearts that we could have not known through any other way possible.  Here are a couple of scriptures for further study.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

I've noticed that the Bible has several accounting terms mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments.  The word reconciliation is from a banking term "reconcile", which means, i.e., to balance your checking account.  To reconcile your checking account means that your check register must agree with your bank statement for your account to be accurate or in harmony.

The term reconciliation is has to do with relationships, which means individual relationships between two parties are again restored in harmony with one another.  The Bible uses the word reconciliation having to do with God providing a way for His people to be reconciled with Him again.  Jesus is the "Way" He provided for that reconciliation.

Here are some scriptures study references for these accounting terms:
We will discuss other accounting terms mentioned in the scriptures in future lessons, but today we will focus on the term Ministry of Reconciliation and what that means to you.

17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 NJKV
Please read all of Chapter 5 for the full impact of this scripture reference.  Notice in verse twenty it says, "Now then", meaning right now, "we are ambassadors for Christ".  As a believer we represent Christ in the world we live in.  As an ambassador of Christ I believe our ministry is the ministry of reconciliation to the world around us.  Our ministry is to share with others what price God was willing to pay for the world to be reconciled back to Him.  God loved the people in the world so much He paid the ultimate sacrifice, His Son, in order to redeem the world until Himself.
Through Jesus' passion, death, and resurrection the believer's account has been changed from the debt side of the account to the paid side.  Jesus took our place and took upon our debt (sin, sickness, death, and disease) on Himself.   We are now righteous and on the right side of the accounting page.  Our debt was paid in full and now we were made righteous, but only in Him are we righteous.  We are righteous only in Him because He who knew no sin sacrificed Himself to pay for my sins.
Our ministry of reconciliation is as an ambassador for Jesus to the world sharing the good news that Jesus has already paid the price for the sins of the whole world.   Salvation is a free gift that God has provided for the world so that the world can be reconciled to Himself, however, not everyone is willing to accept His free gift.  Our job is to share the gospel of reconciliation to others and then Jesus will knock on the door of the individual's heart.  They will either open the door and let Him in or the may choose to not to open the door to let Him in.  Each individual has the free choice to let Him in or not.
Notice in the picture below that there is not a door knob on the outside.  Jesus cannot open the door and force Himself in your heart.  You must open the door from the inside to allow Him to come into your heart.

Is Jesus knocking at your door?  If so, I pray that you will let Him in today.  If you are already a follower of Jesus then I pray you will accept your position as minister of reconciliation, an Ambassador for Christ, and present Him to those you know and come in contact with today.

He Will Give You Rest

"All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."  Matthew 11:27-29 NKJV

I love this scripture as Jesus is saying that He will give rest for our souls, which is our mind, our will, and our emotions.  Jesus is saying to us that He will give us His rest because in His rest you will find peace even in the midst of storms of life.
The reason this scripture is so important is because many believers, that I have encountered in my working career, suffer from confusion and uncertainty as to their position as a believer.  One particular believer said to me one day, "I hope I'm good enough to make it to heaven."  Another said, "I don't care if I get any rewards or not when I get to heaven.  I just hope I make it in."  These two are just a few examples of what believers say.
What's wrong with those two statements?  Both of these individuals represent the emotions many believers suffer from what is the opposite of rest.  They are suffering from an emotional measure of fear, uncertainty, and unrest.  This is one of the greatest tools the enemy uses against the believers.
Why are some believers confused and tormented like this?  The answer to that question lies in the source of confusion.  Who is the author of confusion?  Is God the author of confusion?  1 Corinthians 14:33 states that God is not the author of confusion, but rather peace.  If God is the author of peace then who is the author of confusion.  The author of confusion, the enemy of our souls (mind, will, and emotions) and our physical body which is Satan.  Satan's plan is to keep as many believers as possible, confused and full of fears and doubts.  Satan knows when he has a believer confused and full of fears and doubts then he has made the believers witness ineffective.  In essence he has silenced the effectiveness  of the believer because they do not have a witness or testimony of what great things the Lord had done for them.  They are so burdened with guilt they cannot remember what Jesus saved them from.
How can Jesus give the confused believer rest when the believer is so confused and so burdened with guilt?  The secret lies in understanding who you are in Christ.  Satan has confused you by causing you to take your eyes off of Jesus to looking at yourself.  He has caused the believer to be selfish and self-conscious instead of Jesus conscious.
As a believer our spirit is changed from death to life.  The old man is dead and the new man is alive forever.  The body and mind, on the other hand, are subject to the attacks of the enemy.  Nothing can ever separate the spirit man from God again because the believer is re-born and is no longer subject to Satan.  He is born from death to life.  Satan tricks believers into focusing on the imperfections of self instead of the perfections of who we are in Jesus.  You see we are saved by grace and not of our efforts to be good enough.  We could never be good enough through our own efforts.  Grace is a free gift and not something that is earned though good works.
Our job is to rest in our position of who we are in Christ.  Take on His yoke and learn from Him as He is gentle and has a peaceful heart.  Do this and learn from His examples and He will give your mind rest from fear, doubt, and unbelief.

The Witness

What is a witness?

The term witness is a legal term meaning to give testimony of what you have seen or first hand knowledge about a specific event.

Today's story is about a dream I had earlier this week.  This is the third dream that has left a positive impact on me.

The main person is this dream cannot be revealed at this time because I have not told that person of the dream.  I can tell you that this person is very close to me.

This person is a man that is unmarried at this time.  In the dream he and his wife invited us to go to church with him.  We agreed to go and I remember as we entered the church there was a large congregation already seated and the worship service had begun.

We were seated on the outside isle on the left side of the building and I remember this person stood up and started talking.  I was surprised at first when he stood up because this seemed out of character for this man.  He stood handsome in his perfect suit and tie.  He spoke with boldness like I had never seen before.  As he was talking he sat down on the pew while he was still talking.  He realized some of people were having trouble hearing him so he stood up and continued to speak.

At first I thought he was preaching a sermon because his words were so powerful.  But, then I realized he was witnessing or giving testimony of what Jesus had done in his life.  The dream ended here and I have no idea if the dream was prophetic or not.  I just know the dream was a tremendous blessing and brought much joy to my heart.

My mother was always a constant witness as anytime you were around her she always talked about what The Lord has done or is doing.  I am a believer, but during this time I thought my Mom was a little over the top or too zealous.  My mother lives in a nursing home now days as she has Alzheimer's disease therefore doesn't talk about Jesus all the time like she use to.  She does, however, still have that sweet and gentle personality that she's always had.  To me she still reflects Jesus by her character.

Tell me your story - I would love to hear your witness, your testimony of what Jesus has done in your life.  Please feel free to comment on this article or send me an e-mail if you would like your story published.  When you tell your story your praises and worship are a sweet smelling aroma to your Heavenly Father.  Whenever you express your praise and worship the powers of heaven are released in your life that brings you the blessings and the miracles you need for your daily life.

Lift your hands and praise Him for all He has done in your life.  He is worthy of our praise and worthy to be worshiped.  Do this not because you love Him, but because He first love you.  Do this and you will experience the joy and peace like you have never known before.

How to be a Witness

To be a witness in a trial you will be called to testify what you have seen or what you know. Life is your courtroom experience and as a believer you will be called on to testify what you know and what you have seen.  What are you to say?  Your witness, your testimony is your story of what Jesus has done in your life.  Everyone you speak with is your opportunity to be a witness for Jesus.  As a witness you are not the judge nor the prosecutor.  Your job, as a witness, is to give God the glory for what great things He has done in your life.

You Are A Reflection of God

As you know I love Jesus art and I especially love this piece because I see the reflection of Jesus who is a reflection of God.  Jesus said if you have seen Me you have seen the father.

If you are a believer you have a relationship with Jesus and if you were standing in the water, as in this art your reflection would Jesus reflection.  When people look at you, the believer they see Jesus.

Rest in the peace of knowing that you are in Jesus and His Holy Spirit is in you.  Relax and let Jesus shine through as Jesus let The Father shine through Himself.  Relax and let the Love of The Father reflect through you. Amen

Look Up, Your Redemption Draws Near

Jesus and His saints are watching and waiting for the time when The Father tells Him it's time to come back on earth.  When He comes again I believe everyone on earth will see Him and also coming with Him the earth will see a great cloud of witnesses, the believers or saints, as shown here.

I am so excited as I believe He's coming soon and I look forward to the day that I get to see Him coming in a cloud and I will live forever in His presence.

Look Up, Your Redemption draws near!

As you probably know I don't like to take things out of context.  Please read all of Luke 21 for the full impact of this message.

Additional Comments added today 911 (September 11, 2013)

Notice in the picture none of the believers, witnesses, or saints as the scriptures call them, have any weapons in their hands.  They are come back with Jesus, but they are not coming back to fight.  They are to witness what Jesus does when He returns as He puts and end to what Satan is doing on the earth.  Satan stole the lease on earth from Adam and now the lease has expired.  Soon Satan and all his fallen spirits will be locked away in the bottomless pit for one thousand years.

I think that's why they are called "A Great Cloud of Witnesses".  It is stated that Jesus will come back in the clouds and I believe this cloud is called a cloud because it looks like a cloud - it's a cloud of believers or witnesses coming back with Jesus.

Jesus will do all the fighting with the power of His words.  His power, His might will come out of His mouth just as it was in creating the earth.  God spoke and it was done as He said.

When will Jesus come?  Jesus will come back when The Father tells Him to, but He cannot come until the "Time of the Gentiles" is fulfilled.  When will that time be fulfilled?  I think it will be fulfilled when a specific number of people surrender their will, their hearts to Jesus.  What Jesus did on the cross is a free gift, but not all will accept His free gift.  God is waiting until His number is completed then He will tell Jesus it's time to go back as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Our job is to prepare our hearts to be ready for His coming and to be looking up anticipating His coming with excitement and joy.  Our duty as a follower of Christ is to be a witness of Christ's love where ever we are and at all times no matter what things are going on in the world.  Not a witness of fear of what may happen, but a witness of what will happen when Jesus returns as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  A witness of "The Blessed Hope" of a future of our lives  with Jesus forever and ever.  Amen

The good news of the future is Jesus will reign on earth for one thousand years and we, the believers or witnesses, will reign with Him during that thousand years:

The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years - Revelation 20:4
"And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." (NKJV)

It's All About Jesus

My favorite videos of all time are the "Revelation Song" Videos.  I love the Global Edition by Gateway Worship (on YouTube), which you can see by clicking on the link located on the side bar of this blog.  I also love the version shown below because of the video clips that are  shown with the song.  Watch the video below and then check out the lyrics shown below the video:

http://youtu.be/QMvnMfXLe3I

One thing I have discovered is that the entire Bible is "All About Jesus".  The "Revelation Song" is a perfect expression of love and worship of Jesus found in the Book of Revelation:

Revelation Song

Worthy is the, Lamb who was slain
Holy, Holy, is He
Sing a new song, to him who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat
[2X]

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and glory and power be
to You the only wise King

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder
At the mention of your name
Jesus your name is power
Breath, and living water
Such a marvelous mystery
Yeah...

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come, yeah
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

As A Little Child

I love this picture of Jesus because it express how much He loves children.  I think the reason I like it is because I see myself as a little child too.

Jesus said that ". . . whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter in."  Luke 18:16 (NKJV)  Notice how comfortable the children are in Jesus presence.  I love the fact that I can be comfortable in His presence as He is not critical of me nor is He judgmental of me.

Jesus said, " . . .  if you have seen Me you have seen the Father."  When I look at this picture I see my Heavenly Father for they are one with the Holy Spirit.  What a joy it is to know He lets me sit in His lap and crawl on His back because He enjoy our relationship.

I pray that you too are blessed by your relationship with Jesus.

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

The Parable of the Lost Sheep - Luke 15 (NKJV)
"Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” 3 So He spoke this parable to them, saying:
4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."
What does this Parable mean to you? To me it means that I was once lost and without hope.  Jesus came searching for me - I was not searching for Him.  He called my name and I recognized His voice.  He cared enough for me that He came searching for me and when He found me I gladly called back to Him to save me.  He did just that!  He picked me up and put me on His shoulders and gave me rest as I was tired of struggling to survive in a fallen world.  He put me on His shoulders and gave me rest.  I then entered into His rest because nothing can ever separate me from Him ever again.
When Jesus picked me up and placed me on His shoulders all of heaven rejoiced because a lost sheep was now found.  Has Jesus found you?  If He has I would love to hear your story.   Please write to me - I will post your story on my BLOG but only if I have your permission.
