PUSH

A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and God appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might...

So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might!

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Since the man was showing discouragement, the adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind. He will do it every time.

“You have been pushing against that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved." Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough." That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to The Lord.

"Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that wh ich you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your Faith and trust in My Wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock."

At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him. By all means, exercise the Faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God who moves the mountains.

Battles for the Mind (Part 1)

By Chet Nowlen

For years now the LORD has been dealing with my heart about what I call "Fit for the Master's Service" training. We hear a lot of good sermons in church but we do not hear many that teach us how to deal with everyday life. I think to be "Fit for the Master's Service" we must go through some training to win in this war called life. Most people do not realize we are in a war - we are in a war with an unseen enemy that wants to destroy us.

To be a soldier one must go through physical strength training and also training to be mentally prepared to fight and win. The unseen battle takes place in the mind. To gain the strength to fight in this battle we must exercise our mind through the study of the word and prayer. Then we are to put on all the armor, which is the word so that we are prepared for the enemy's attacks. We counter attack the enemy, like Jesus did, by speaking the word back to the enemy.

When Adam gave up his authority on earth to Satan, Satan became the god of this world. Satan stole man's authority and caused man to live under a curse caused by his disobedience. Satan is a spirit being, not a physical being, so the only power Satan had in the physical world was to manipulate man through the mind of man. Man was both a spirit man and a physical man so man was his vehicle to get back at God.

Satan's only weapons against us is in our thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. He deceived Eve with a thought (Genesis 3:1-7). The devil approached Eve and there was no fear, no threat - Eve was calm.

Do you remember something that happened in your past you did and your are not proud of? Do you ever hear words spoken in your mind that remind you of something you are ashamed of and the words sound like you talking? It wasn't a strange voice or you would have said, "Who said that?" When you recognized it was your voice you think you must take responsibility for this thought, idea, or suggestion because it was me that thougt it up. But, it was a seed of Satan. Satan is a ventrilioquist - he can throw his voice and in your way of talking and make you believe it was you talking.

Eve's reply gave no indication that she was in any danger. Eve knew what God said and she even quoted what God said, not exactly correct, but she quoted God. This is how powerful thoughts, ideas, and suggestions can be. Eve knew better - she knew she would die, but the thoughts, ideas, and ideas, waged a war in her mind and she lost. The possibility of her eyes being opened and knowing good and evil were attractive to Eve. She had never considered such before. But here come these external thoughts, ideas, and suggestions into her mind. Thoughts are the fiery darts (the Amplified Bible calls them flaming missles) (Ephesians 6:16). Paul spoke of this battle of the mind in Ephesians 6:11-18.

Lets look at Evidence #1 Genesis 3:1-6
  • has God said
  • you will not surely die
  • your eyes will be opened and you will be like God knowing good and evil
  • he attacks us but we are calm because we do not sense danger
  • his arsenal will the thoughts, ideas and suggestions and will they will sound like they are leading us into a better life, but infact they will be leading us into dispare and defeat.
  • they will logical and reasonable thoughts - they will make sense.
  • It is our job to take control of our thought life - if not the enemy is bombarding us 24/7 with thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.
Knowledge and its proper use wins battles!

Who controls your thought life? Your thought life will ultimately influence your words and your walk (life) that can bring you to the goodness of God or something else you are not going to like very much. We must learn from the mistakes of those that have gone before us. We must understand the importance of maintaining out thought life. As we observe the attacks on Eve it became clear that the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11), the evil day (Ephesians 6:13), and the fiery darts (Ephesians 6:16), are nothing more than thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.

"The devil made me do it!" No he didn't, you lost the battle of the mind, you didn't control your thought life, you didn't keep it lined up with the word of God, and you did like Eve where she looked at the tree saw that is was good for food and the tree could make one wise. Adam and Eve were the wisest and smartest people that have ever lived on the planet earth - they have had no negative DNA or heredity behind them. Adam was smart enought to name all the many different animals and they are still carrying the same name Adam gave them in the very beginning.

Thoughts, ideas, and suggestions, maek you think you are going to get better than what you already have so you think you are disattisfied - you think, "Wow!, she/he looks so good, I wonder what it would be like if I had her/him." You are already with the best. The thoughts, ideas, and suggestions make you think there is something wrong with your mate - she/he's not pretty enough or she/he's is not that. You go out there and get involved and regret it the rest of your life. Some of you are living with guilt right now because of thoughts, ideas, and suggestions - you didn't maintain your thought life, you lost the battle of the mind. You didn't use your armor.

Evidence #2 - We are examining our enemy's past in order to discover his pattern of attack and the devices he uses today called Modus operandi ("often used in the abbreviated forms M.O. or simply Method) is a Latin phrase, approximately translated as "mode of operation". The more we know about our enemy the more predictable he becomes. He's not creative - you know what he's going to do - you know what his attack is going to be - always comes the same way - he doesn't have any new tricks. He's always going to approach you the same way and if you become wise to that you can always perdict what he's going to do an you can always be ready to stand against him because victory is sweeter than defeat.

In Luke 4:1-14 Satan's approach, his attitude and the weapons he uses on Jesus are almost a carbon copy of the attacks he used on Eve. Satan said, "If you are the Son of God . . .", its almost like Satan said, "Hath God said". Satan always says something to cast doubt - if he can get you to cast doubt what God's word said to you and get you to accept the thoughts, ideas, and suggestions that he brings then he'll control your destiny.

He knew who Jesus was but he approached Jesus with words to get him to doubt. That how he wins when he gets us to doubt. Here's how Jeus used his battle armor. He said, "It is written . . ." He didn't quote himself he quoted what His Father said. You can't say what is written if you don't know what God said in His word. Notice Satan didn't debate the rocks and the bread - it was over - he knew he could not win that battle so he went to the next temptation. Satan knows that most Christians are lazy and shiftless and will not take the time to learn so he knows they don't know how to win in thegame. So he'll keep coming back.

Next he took Jesus on a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world. Satan tempted Jesus with the thought "You will be be as Gods, if you will worship me, knowing good and evil." Notice its the same game plan he used on Eve. Jesus quoted what the word says and that was the end of that. Next Satan took Jesus to Jerusalem - why? The battle for the mind was raging but Jesus was maintaining his thought life and He was winning. Satan couldn't do anything so he had to skip over to the next subject.

When He took Jesus to Jerusalem he quoted Jesus scripture. That's why we'd better be up on our game and know what the word says ourselves. Satan twists the word around to deceive us. After Satan failed to seduce Jesus Satan went away to wait for a more opportune time to try again. Satan chooses the battles he thinks he can win. He cannot read your mind but he listens to the words you speak. He listens for weaknesses so he can plant half truths and lies that he hope you will believe.

I hope you got something out of this teaching. I would like to hear from you - please feel free to send me your questions to mywelldone@me.com

Thank Him For The Thorns

Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes when she pulled open the florist shop door, against a November gust of wind. Her life had been as sweet as a spring breeze and then, in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a "minor" automobile accident stole her joy. This was Thanksgiving week and the time she should have delivered their infant son. She grieved over their loss.

Troubles had multiplied.

Her husband's company "threatened" to transfer his job to a new location. Her sister had called to say that she could not come for her long awaited holiday visit. What's worse, Sandra's friend suggested that Sandra's grief was a God-given path to maturity that would allow her to empathize with others who suffer. "She has no idea what I'm feeling," thought Sandra with a shudder. "Thanksgiving? Thankful for what?" she
wondered. "For a careless driver whose truck was hardly scratched when he rear-ended her? For an airbag that saved her life, but took her child's?"

"Good afternoon, can I help you?"

Sandra was startled by the approach of the shop clerk. "I . . . I need an arrangement," stammered Sandra.

"For Thanksgiving? I'm convinced that flowers tell stories," she continued. "Are you looking for something that conveys 'gratitude' this Thanksgiving?"

"Not exactly!" Sandra blurted out. "In the last five months, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong."

Sandra regretted her outburst, and was surprised when the clerk said, "I have the perfect arrangement for you."

Then the bell on the door rang, and the clerk greeted the new customer, "Hi, Barbara, let me get your order." She excused herself and walked back to a small workroom, then quickly reappeared, carrying an arrangement of greenery, bows, and what appeared to be long-stemmed thorny roses. Except the ends of the rose stems were neatly snipped: there were no flowers.

"Do you want these in a box?" asked the clerk. Sandra watched - was this a joke? Who would want rose stems with no flowers! She waited for laughter, but neither woman laughed.

"Yes, please," Barbara replied with an appreciative smile. "You'd think after three years of getting the special, I wouldn't be so moved by its significance, but I can feel it right here, all over again," she said, as she gently tapped her chest.

Sandra stammered, "Ah, that lady just left with . . . uh . . . she left with no flowers!"

"That's right," said the clerk. "I cut off the flowers. That's the
'Special'. I call it the Thanksgiving Thorns Bouquet. Barbara came into the shop three years ago, feeling much as you do today," explained the clerk. "She thought she had very little to be thankful for. She had just lost her father to cancer; the family business was failing; her son had gotten into drugs; and she was facing major surgery. That same year I had lost my husband," continued the clerk. "For the first time in my
life, I had to spend the holidays alone. I had no children, no husband, no family nearby, and too much debt to allow any travel."

"So what did you do?" asked Sandra.

"I learned to be thankful for thorns," answered the clerk quietly. "I've always thanked God for the good things in my life and I never questioned Him why those good things happened to me, but when the bad stuff hit, I cried out, 'Why? Why me?!' It took time for me to learn that the dark
times are important to our faith! I have always enjoyed the 'flowers' of my life, but it took the thorns to show me the beauty of God's comfort! You know, the Bible says that God comforts us when we're afflicted, and from His consolation we learn to comfort others."

Sandra sucked in her breath, as she thought about what her friend had tried to tell her. "I guess the truth is I don't want comfort. I've lost a baby and I'm angry with God."

Just then someone else walked in the shop.

"Hey, Phil!" the clerk greeted the balding, rotund man.

"My wife sent me in to get our usual Thanksgiving arrangement . . . twelve thorny, long-stemmed stems!" laughed Phil as the clerk handed him a tissue wrapped arrangement from the refrigerator.

"Those are for your wife?" asked Sandra incredulously. "Do you mind telling me why she wants a bouquet that looks like that?"

"Four years ago, my wife and I nearly divorced," Phil replied. "After forty years, we were in a real mess, but with the Lord's grace and guidance, we trudged through problem after problem, the Lord rescued our marriage. Jenny here (the clerk) told me she kept a vase of rose stems to remind her of what she had learned from "thorny" times. That was good enough for me. I took home some of those stems. My wife and I decided
to label each one for a specific "problem" and give thanks for what that problem taught us."

As Phil paid the clerk, he said to Sandra, "I highly recommend the Special!"

"I don't know if I can be thankful for the thorns in my life" Sandra said to the clerk. "It's all too . . . fresh."

"Well," the clerk replied carefully, "my experience has shown me that the thorns make the roses more precious. We treasure God's providential care more during trouble than at any other time. Remember that it was a crown of thorns that Jesus wore so we might know His love. Don't resent the thorns."

Tears rolled down Sandra's cheeks. For the first time since the
accident, she loosened her grip on her resentment.

"I'll take those twelve long-ste mmed thorns, please," she managed to choke out.

"I hoped you would," said the clerk gently. "I'll have them ready in a minute."

"Thank you. What do I owe you?"

"Nothing. Nothing but a promise to allow God to heal your heart. The first year's arrangement is always on me."

The clerk smiled and handed a card to Sandra. "I'll attach this card to your arrangement, but maybe you would like to read it first."

It read:

"My God, I have never thanked You for my thorns. I have thanked You a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the cross I bear; teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have climbed closer to You along the path of pain. Show me that, through my tears, the colors of Your rainbow look much more brilliant."

Praise Him for the roses; thank Him for the thorns.

God Bless all of you. Be thankful for all that the Lord does for you.

"Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God."

We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and Duct tape. God did it with nails.

Battle With My Mind and Negative Thoughts

I am very thankful that you are allowing God to use you in a great and mighty way. You see I have been struggling and praying for answers regarding the battle with my mind and negative thoughts. I felt like your friend who felt distance from God because I fell back into some old things and the guilt was tormenting me. I sometimes let my guilt make me feel that Jesus is so disappointed in me because how unworthy I am. I really want to be free from me and the tormenting mental thoughts. I'm studying my word daily and I'm starting to see the light and I'm am starting to change my way of thinking one day at time... I found your blog very inspiring and I felt God speaking to me throught your words. May God continue to Bless You!

I would love to be added to your mailing list...! Thank you...! and God Bless
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi A.H.,

Thank you so much for finding my BLOG, "Well Done Good and Faithful Servant", and I'm glad it was a blessing to you. I trust you will take a little time to read all the other postings as well.

The Lord must have sent you to my BLOG because you mentioned "battle with my mind and negative thoughts". I'm working on a new article titled "Battle For the Mind" . Its about how Satan deceives us and tricks us into believing him through thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. Satan speaks to us using our own voice making us believe the thought we are hearing are our thoughts, but in fact they are his thoughts. If he can get us to believe his thoughts are our thoughts and also get us to dwell on those thoughts then he is able to keep us defeated.

You are not alone in the battle you are facing with negative thoughts. Satan comes against us all with these flaming missles trying to cause fear. He wants us to fear (false evidence appearing real) that Jesus remembers things we haven't forgiven ourselves of.

The truth is this, if we have confessed our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us all our sins. Once He forgives us He remembers then no more. The devil wants to torment us and make us recall our past. As long as he can do that he can keep us out of the blessings God has for us. If He doesn't remember then why should He.

Paul said, "... We have wronged no one." How can he say that when we know he persecuted the Christians before his conversion. He can say that because God has forgiven him of that. God does not remember it so Paul didn't either. It was if it never happened.

Suppose I died today and I standing before the Father and was ashamed for my previous sins? God will say, "Why do you look so sad?" And I say, I'm ashamed of what I did way back when." God will say, "What are you talking about, do you not believe my words?" I would say, "What words do you mean?" God will say, "Remember in I John 1:9 I said through John, 'If you [freely] admit that you have sinned and confess your sins, I am faithful and just (true to My own nature and promises) and will forgive your sins [dismiss your lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse you from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to My will in purpose, thought, and action]."

Do you believe God when He said He is faithful and does what he says He will do? Then you have faith that God does not remember forgiven sins. Now when your enemy comes against you with negative thought, ideas, and suggestions rebuke that thought in the name of Jesus. Resist him and he'll flee from you as he did from Jesus. You have the same authority over the devil as Jesus did because Jesus stripped the devil of his power over us. Jesus is the second Adam and Jesus regain the Kingdom of God on earth. Jesus gave authority and dominion back to man, where it belongs. Jesus gave Adam (man) complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26)

Begin to say God's words, say what God says about you out loud and you will find yourself easily defeating Satan's when he comes against you with negative thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. Teach your mind {renew your mind - "And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God's image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesian 4:23, 24 Amplified Version} with words from I John 1:9, i.e., "God is faithful and just, He does not remember any sins and neither will I." "I am righteous in God's eyes therefore I refuse to think any negative thoughts."

I pray that this e-mail has been a help to you as it has blessed me just writing it. Please visit my other BLOG www.winningthewarondebt.com Please also please do not hesitate to write if you have other questions.

In Him

By Chet Nowlen

To know who we are as a Christian we should understand who we are in Jesus.  The following list of scriptures is where we should base our professions of faith as to who we are "In Him"

John 10:42 (NKJV) And many believed in Him there.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV) For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

John 1:4 (NKJV) In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 3:15 (NKJV) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 2:6 (NKJV) He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

1 John 3:3 (NKJV) And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 John 3:6 (NKJV) Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

Colossians 1:17 (NKJV) And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Colossians 1:19 (NKJV) For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,

Colossians 2:9 (NKJV) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV) In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

John 6:29 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.

Acts 10:43 (NKJV) To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.

1 John 3:5 (NKJV) And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

Proverbs 14:7 (NKJV) Go from the presence of a foolish man, When you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

Psalm 34:22 (NKJV) The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.

2 Corinthians 1:19 (NKJV) For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by usby me, Silvanus, and Timothywas not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes.

Ephesians 1:4 (NKJV) just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

Ephesians 1:11 (NKJV) In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

John 12:44 (NKJV) Then Jesus cried out and said, He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.

John 3:16 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 4:39 (NKJV) And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, He told me all that I ever did.

John 7:39 (NKJV) But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

1 John 1:5 (NKJV) This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

In Christ

A Christian friend recently told me they felt separated from God because they have strayed from God and had gone back to some of their old ways. This "feeling" is the Holy Spirit drawing us back to the right relationship with the Father. The Bible tells us if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins. Once we have confessed our sins we exercise the same faith that caused us to believe we are saved as the faith that causes us to believe God has forgiven those sins we
commited since we were saved.

Some times we "feel" a distance from God even though we many not necessarily be in a backsliden condition. What causes this "feeling"? I remember someone in my Sunday School class saying that they "felt" their prayers were bouncing off the ceiling and God was not hearing their prayers. This is the enemy of your soul trying to do the oposite of what the Holy Spirit does. The Holy Spirit draws you to God and the enemy tries to draw you away. He tries to make you "feel" discouraged, inadequate, and unworthy. He wants to draw your attention from who you are "In Christ" to attention on your self or your fleshly feelings. This is where the enemy knows he can beat up on the Christian. He knows he has no real power over the Christian except to trick him into the area of his feelings.

The message today is to not let "feelings" govern who you are as a Christian. The best way to not let "feelings" control you is to know who you are "IN CHRIST". If you know who you are "IN CHRIST" then will you take a stand and refuse to take the negative thoughts of the enemy. Instead speak out loud to the enemy something like, "Devil, in the name of Jesus I refuse to take your thought of siscouragement." Tell him what the WORD says about you, which gives you the authority to speak with the same authority Jesus spoke because he gave us HIS name to use as authority. Say something like Roman 8:1 "Devil, you cannot condem me
because I am in Christ Jesus and HE is in me." Find your own affrimations from the list of "IN CHRIST" scriptures below and speak them out loud, i.e., "I am a new creature in Christ" 2 Corinthians 5:17 etc.

Are you beginning to see that we have the power to accept or refuse the thoughts that come to our minds. When you are feeling down and discouraged Jesus would rather you think on the things found in Philippians 4:8. When tempted to worry read Matthew 6:25-34. Jesus said to not take the thought. In other words HE is saying to refuse to take the thoughts. When you think on negative thought they become the
words you speak. Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." This is why the thoughts you dwell on are so important. If you see yourself as low down and unworthy then that's what you will speak about. We are what we speak. This message is as much for me as it is for anyone. I have to remind myself of my own teaching constantly.

The LORD has been dealing with me about sharing my faith through the e-mail because it will bring an answer for someone that has been praying and seeking an answer on this subject. The message is simple and my words are very elementary so that all should be able to understand. I would like to hear from you if this message was encouraging to you. If you would like to receive further messages like this one please let me know because I will only send future messages to those that request it.

Its Not About Me!

By Chet Nowlen

In April of this year I discovered something that rocked my world. I discovered my life was not "all about me." I realized my prayers were mostly about me and my thoughts were always what I wanted and what pleased me. I was shocked to discover that God's Will was not to please me but to please Himself. My attitude was all wrong because God's will is about what pleases God. His will is not what we want but rather what He wants and not what I want or can get.

I was so ashamed when I realized how selfish I had been all these years. God created us to do something for His purpose - not for God to do something for us. He created us for a purpose, but His plan is for you to prepare you for His purpose. He has called you, and me, for a specific task to accomplish for His good pleasure. Have you ever wondered what He has called you to do? He has given each of us specific talents and abilities for His purpose, but we have not understood his call or heard His voice. His voice is calling us through the Holy Spirit. However, we often do not recognize the Spirit calling and we subconsciously suppress His voice because we think this is something our mind made up. The world of darkness around us also wants to drown out the Spirit's voice. How does the enemy do this? The word says the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. What is he trying to steal from you, your possessions? No, he coming against you to steal the word that was sown in your heart. If he can steal that word he will be able to kill you.

How does he steal the word from us. He steals it from us by the so called friends we keep, what we read, and what we think about. What we think about or believe about ourselves is a self fulfilling prophecy. What you fill your mind with is what will come out of your mouth. Jesus said, " . . . for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." (Matthew 12:34) Have you seen that Capital One commercial that says, "What's in your wallet." For the believer its, "What is in your Heart" that matters.

The Parable of the Sower is a perfect expression of the condition of the Heart. "Behold, there went out a sower to sow: and it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air come and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth: and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And the other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred." Mark 4:4-8

A Parable is an allegory - here's what I think the parable means - the sower is God himself, He goes among His children and cast His seed (God's Word) on the soil (His children). The condition of the soil is different among the children. Some of the children have not prepared their hearts to receive from God and the seed sits on top of the soil so that the seed is stolen before it can have a chance. Some seed fell on stony ground and the seed did get under the surface of the soil, but was not planted deep enough. They were easily offended by others and the root withered and died. Some seed fell among thorns and the cares of this life, the deceitfulness of riches and lust for other things choke the word. These children are so busy with all their activities, work, and lust for more stuff they are unfruitful and are worthless to the Father.

The last group is the children had prepared their hearts to receive from the Father and the dead seed came alive in their hearts and sprang forth with abundant fruits, which in themselves had more seeds for planting. A bag of seeds is just a bag of seeds. The seeds never will reproduce anything until the dead seed is buried and then after a few days germination brings the seed to life and a sprout breaks forth through the top of the soil. The sprout grows to the fruit full of more seeds for the Father to plant again and again. (Notice Jesus was planted in the ground for three days and on the third day He broke through the soil and became the first fruits of an abundant harvest for the Kingdom.)

What is the condition of your heart? Are you ready receive His Word and produce an abundant harvest for Him? How can I do this? Do it the way Joshua did it - he meditated on the Word day and night so that he could observe and do what was written so that he would make his way prosperous and have good success. (Joshua 1:8) Notice it says, ". . . so that he would make his way prosperous."

I once bought all the books and tapes by certain motivational speakers because I wanted to better myself. Nothing wrong with that, right? Everybody was doing it so it has to be right, right? Well, I didn't feel it was right for me. I felt I was being manipulated to buy products to make someone else rich. After getting deeper into the word I realized getting ahead or getting rich was "lust for other things" and I was being my own God because I was not looking to Him to supply all my needs. Notice in Joshua 1:8 Joshua meditated on God's word so he could live the way God planned and by doing this he made his own way prosperous. God never asks us to give Him anything that He does not give back to us exceeding and abundantly beyond all that we could ask for or even think of according to the power [the word] that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)

Seek first the Kingdom of God and to be changed into righteous in God eyes and all that you need in life He will provide to you. Romans 3:4 says "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:..." and in verses 23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: . . ." (Read all of Chapter 4) So how do we become righteous in God's eyes? All of Jesus' sermons were about the Kindgom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. After Jesus' temptations were over he began to preach, like John the Baptist, "Repent: for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."

The word translated "Repent" in the Hebrew means to turn back or a restoration of relationship, to be restored again, to have a change of heart, change of mind, to turn away from the ways of the world and to realign oneself to the Kingdom of Heaven. An expample of this found in the parable of the Prodigal Son. When the son changed his mind and decided to beg his father's forgiveness he repented. The Kingdom of Heaven is the Father (and we are the sons of disobedience) that welcomed the son back home and the Father restored the son to his Kingdom.

We are righteous in God's eyes when we accept the free gift of salvation He provided through Jesus and repent (turn away from the ways of the world). Once we have done this the Holy Spirit is able to come in our hearts and dwell within us. Once we repent and accept a personal relationship with Jesus we are then restore citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. Adam gave his dominion and authority rights away when he let Satan become the god of this world. Jesus paid the price so that we can become citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven again. We still live a a world ruled by the god of this world but now through Jesus we are not of this world. We of of the Kingdom of Heaven and have been restored to have the same dominion and authority Adam had before he fell.

So why do we need the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is that part of God that lives in every believer. We were made in His likeness and He lives in us so that we have an open line of communication between where we are right now and the Kingdom of Heaven. When we pray the Spirit intercedes for us to the Father. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through our spirit. He teaches us and guides us - we may not hear an audible voice but our spirit knows. The mind is used to being in control and wants to suppress the spirit. Since we still live in an earthly body our flesh still craves to rule us by the senses. The believer suppresses the deeds of the flesh and the selfish thought world and relies on the Holy Spirit to keep us focused on pleasing the Father.

The Holy Spirit is also for power. Jesus had already breathe the Holy Spirit on His disciples (John 20:22) so they had the Holy Spirit in them, but in Luke 24:49 Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they are endued with power from on high. If they already had the Holy Spirit why did they need power? Endued is from the Greek word endyo which means to clothe, dress, clothe oneself: put on, clothed in, clothed with, arrayed in, clothed with a garment, clothed, endued with, had on, having on, and putting on. The word power is from the Greek word dynamis, which means power, ability, miracle, ruler, an extended meaning of a person or supernatural being who has administrative power: power, mighty works, miracles, strength, powers, might, virtue, mighty, ability, abundance, meaning, mightily, mighty deeds, mighty work, miracle, violence, wonderful works, workers of miracles. The disciples needed to be clothed in the Holy Spirit on the outside of the spirit (the physical body) so they could have the necessary power to perform the mighty works God needed them to perform.

The same is true for us (the believer) today. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish the works God called us to do. As citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven we all have different tasks to perform until His coming. Even after He come to reign on earth as King of Kings we will be his Priests and representing Him on earth and through out the universe. Each of us was born with specific talents and abilities to Glorify Him with and for His purpose. Its all about Him and not about "me" or "you".

The Greatest Gift is Love

Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.

Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.

Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.Amen.

"The Greatest Gift is Love" - The greatest gift is Jesus and He is love. If you know Him you know love and are love. If you know Him you are the greatest gift to those around you because He lives in you. If He lives in you, you are Him and others will see Him in you. You have heard it said, "You are the only Bible some people will ever read." If others see Him in you they will come to know Him through you. You love is radient and draws others to you because they see Him in you.

How do I get this love? Jesus said, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness..." The secret to knowing the God kind of love is to seek to know Him. Jesus also said, "No one can come to the Father except the me." We cannot know God without knowing Jesus in a real and personal way. When Jesus started His ministry He said, "Repent for the Kindgom of Heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17 Everything Jesus preached about was on the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of heaven.

The word repent means to turn back or a restoration of relationship, to be restored again, to have a change of heart, change of mind, to turn away from the ways of the world and realign oneself to the Kingdom of Heaven. An example of this translation is found the in the parable of the Prodigal Son. The son had squandered his inheritance and was wallowing in a pig pen. The son changed his mind and decided to go to his father to beg his forgiveness, he repented. The Kingdom of Heaven is the Father that welcomed the son back home and the father restored the son to all the rights and priveleges of the Kingdom.

To be restored to the Kingdom we must accept that Jesus paid the price for our sins so we can be restored to the kingdom. When we accept Jesus as our personal savior we have a relationship with Jesus and the Father. When we repent of all out sins the Father forgives us all our sins and restores us to rightousness, the place in God that Adam once knew. The power of darkness no longer rules our spirits. The Holy Spirit now is in us and intercedes for us to the Father.

Jesus and the Father live in you through the Holy Spirit as they are one and one with you. Let your light so shine before others that they see and come to know Jesus because of the love you share.

John 3:16

A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were in and out of the cold.

The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers.

He walked up to a policeman and said, "Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you?

You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight.

Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in."

So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: John 3:16 ...I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm.

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry ? " He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food," The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself: John 3:16 ...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full.

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16 . I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out. The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested.

The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible.

She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face. "Do you understand John 3:16 ?" she asked gently. He replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it," She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought: John 3:16 -- don't understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe.

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions.

Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father." Pass this on only if you mean it.

I do Love God . He is my source of existence.. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Phil 4:13 If you love God and are not ashamed of all the marvelous things he has done for you, send the link to this BLOG on to others.

King of Kings - Part 2

By Chet Nowlen

Millions of years ago, before time began, The King of an invisible kingdom colonized a visible land mass and made it a beautiful paradise. The paradise was alive with all kinds of strange animals the likes had never been seen before and never will be seen again. Some of the animals walked upright and had the appearance of a man but were actually animals.

The invisible King assigned one of his chief army generals to oversee the colony to make sure the animals were taken care of. This general had thousands of soldiers under his command that helped him in the management of the colony. The general was so proud of his greatness, but he became bored. He decided he wanted more. He decided he wanted to take over the King's invisible kingdom because he felt he could do a better job of ruling the King's kingdom.

The cunning general talked his soldiers into agreeing with his plan to overthrow the King and take over the kingdom. The general was not satisfied with one little colony, he wanted it all. The general and his soldiers attacked the mighty King in the invisible kingdom but were soon defeated. The general was not as smart as he thought. He thought all the other generals and soldiers would join him in his attempt to overthrow the King, but he was wrong.

The King had a trial for the general and all his soldiers and they were found guilty of treason. Their punishment was to be cast out of the invisible kingdom and to never be allowed back in. The colony was also judged and destroyed by a great flood that covered the entire colony. All the living animals on the land and in the sea died because of the flood. The colony was not without form and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The general and all his army were sentenced to the flooded colony. Some of the general-prince's soldiers had done some things, during the rebellion, that were so horrible they had a more severe sentence. They were sentenced to live in dark prisons underneath the colony where they will stay locked until the King-Father releases them to test the King-Father's disobedient sons during the last days, in the distant future.

Many years past, before time began, and the King decided he wanted to rebuild the colony he had destroyed and this time he wanted to have a visible son to manage his visible colony. The King recreated the colony into a beautiful paradise again. The King placed all kinds of living creatures and animals that were nothing like the animals from before the flood. The King's son gave names all the animals and living creatures in the new kingdom.

The King arranged a wife for the son and they had a beautiful marriage in this beautiful paradise. The couple lived in a beautiful garden in colony the King-Father built for them. The young King had dominion over the fish of the sea, and all the birds, all the cattle, and every other creeping thing on the colony.

The evil general, also know as prince, hated the young King because he was the son of the King-Father and he hated the King-Father even more. The evil prince knew he could not do anything physically to the King so he decided to trick the King so he could get control of the colony for himself again.

The King and his bride fell for the trick of the prince-general and they unknowingly gave away their rights to the colony. When the King-Father came to visit the King and his bride were afraid and hid. When the King-Father asked them why they were hiding they lied to the King-Father. Instead of confessing their mistake and asking forgiveness they lied and tried to blame it on the other. The King-Father had no choice but to banish them from the Kingdom for their act of treason.

The son and his bride wandered the outer regions of the kingdom but were never allowed to enter their beautiful paradise garden again. The son had to work hard to provide food and the bride suffered greatly in child birth. They had two sons one good and the other evil. The evil one killed the good one. The outer regions of the colony had flourished more and more people. The evil son of the young former king was driven away from the presence of the former king by the King-Father, but the evil son was afraid that other people in the outer regions of the colony would kill him. The King-Father placed and mark on the evil son so no one would dare kill the evil son.

More and more people multiplied and spread all over the colony. Some of the evil soldiers from the general-prince's army saw the beauty of the daughters of man and they took them as wives. The inhabitants of the colony were all very wicked and some were even giants.

There was one righteous man in the colony that loved the King-Father even though he had never seen him. Because this man had a good heart the King-Father could talk to the righteous man. The King-Father was very disappointed with the evil people in the colony and decided to destroy the kingdom again. The King-Father told the righteous man to build a giant wooden ship to house the righteous man and his family along with seven of every male and female clean animal, bird, fish, and things that creep, but only two of every unclean animal and fish.

The righteous man did as the King-Father asked and when the ship was completed the King-Father told the righteous man he would cause the rains to come in seven days. After the seven days the rains came for forty straight days. The righteous man and wife, and sons and theirs wives were spared from the flood. Every living creature and man that was not in the ship died.

After the waters receded the King-Father told the righteous man that he was to repopulate the kingdom again and he promised that he would never flood the earth again. The King-Father placed a rainbow in the sky every time it rains as a reminder that he will never flood the earth again.

King of Kings - Part 1

By Chet Nowlen

Once upon a time, before there was time, there was a King, who has always been and will be forever more. This King was a ruler of a vast but invisible domain. The King decided He wanted to rebuild a visible domain out of a visible land that was desolate and flooded. The King rebuilt a beautiful visible domain out of this waste land because He wanted a son to be King of this rebuilt domain.

The son was born in this visible Kingdom and became the King with all authority and power over every living thing. The son has the same power and authority rights as the father as he represented the father in this kingdom. The son looked just like his father and did whatever the father instructed him to do. The father blessed the son and told him to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the land, and subdue it: and have dominion over every living thing. The son's kingdom flourished and the father was pleased with His son.

The Father decided He wanted His son to have children so He arranged for the son to be wed. The son loved his new bride the father provided and they came together and became one. The King and his bride were very happy in their kingdom. They were naked and unashamed because there was not any need for clothing as they were never hot or cold. All the animals loved their masters and were not afraid of them nor were the masters afraid of the animals.

The father made a garden for the son and told the son every tree that is pleasant to look at is good for food and he can eat freely, except for one particular tree that would cause him die. The King and his bride knew which tree to not eat from so they stayed away from this tree.

The father made a garden for the son and told the son every tree that is pleasant to look at is good for food and he can eat freely, except for one particular tree that would cause him die. The King and his bride knew which tree to not eat from so they stayed away from this tree.

Before the King was born and before the land was rebuilt there was an unseen prince that ruled the land. The land was beautiful and had many strange and unusual animals that the prince had dominion over. The prince was so proud of his kingdom, but he became arrogant. The prince thought to himself he could rule his master's unseen kingdom better than the Master could. The prince was successful in getting one third of the Master's servants to join him in his rebellion against the Master. The rebellion failed and the evil Prince was judged and cast out of the unseen kingdom to the seen kingdom that he once governed. The kingdom was judged too and was flooded and all the strange and unusual animals, and other creatures, perished in the flood.

The evil prince hated the new King and plotted to steal his Kingdom from him. He knew the King has the power and authority of his father so he decided to trick him through his love for his bride. The evil prince entered the body of a snake that walked on four legs. The evil prince knew he could not make his plan work unless he could talk to the visible rulers through a visible living being. The evil prince entered the snake and walked up to the bride and started a conversation with the bride. This did not shock the bride because she has had conversations with the animals and other living beings in the kingdom before.

The evil prince is very cunning and gained the bride's confidence enough that she was comfortable enough to have a conversation about the tree in the garden that would cause her to die if she ate of it. She knew what the master said but her understanding was incorrect because she quoted the master incorrectly. The King came along and was surprised to see his bride eating from the tree she shouldn't be eating from. The bride offered the King a bite. The King saw that she did not die and he loved her so much he was blinded by his love and took a bite too.

The Master came to garden looking for his son and he didn't see him so he called for him. The King and his bride were hiding because they realized they were naked and were afraid. For the first time they knew what it felt like to feel ashamed. They tried to cover their nakedness and the Master said, "who told you were naked?’ Have you eaten from the tree I told you not to?" The King knew he had screwed up but instead of admitting it he blamed it on his bride. The bride blamed it on the snake. The Master said to the snake because you have done this you are cursed more than all the other creatures and you will crawl on your belly all of your life. Because the King and his bride had disobeyed the Master they lost their dominion kingdom and were cast out of their garden. They were now slaves of the evil prince as he was now their master. The woman was cursed with sorrow during child birth and the son was cursed to have to work and toil the ground to survive for the rest of their lives.

If you like this story so far watch for part 2 and discover how the Master gets the visible kingdom back from the evil prince.

Signs and Wonders

By Chet Nowlen

Some people do not believe God reveals signs and wonders in today's world. I disagree with that statement because of what happend yesterday. Before going to the gym I like to drink coffee and do my Bible study. I was also studying Dr. Myles Munroe’s teaching on true leadership. The scripture reading is from
Deuteronomy 17:14-20.

After finishing my study I went to the "Y" to workout in the movie room. I came in just as a movie was finishing and stepped onto the elliptical machine. Soon the movie started again. The movie was a Christian movie about a small town football coach in Albany, Georgia. I cannot tell you all the details but the Lord used that movie to confirm his Word. You may watch the same movie and get nothing out of it but the Lord touched me that morning. I cannot explain how this could have happened only that it was a sign and a wonder from God. What makes it so exciting is that what I was learning in my scripture study was confirmed in the movie.

I just started working out again because I’ve gained some weight. My plan was to only workout 45-minutes on the elliptical and then do resistance training for an hour. I was so captivated by the movie (Facing the Giants) my emotions just took over and I stared crying. Not tears of sadness but of shear joy because I knew the Lord was teaching me. I could not get off the ellipitical because I did not want to miss a moment of the movie. I stayed on the thing for almost 1-1/2 hours.

I went home and fixed some breakfast. Gale asked me about my workout and I started to tell her but the harder I tried the more I cried. I was so full of joy I could not even talk about it. I'm still fighting the tears just thinking about it.

You may not believe in signs and wonders but I believe this was God's way of saying He knows my heart and that He is always with me. I've had confirmations like this so many times before but never understood it was His way of showing me his ability to make things line up so perfectly that we will know He is speaking to us. I believe God sends us what we need and He sends us signs, like this one, to let us know how much He cares. I am concerned we do not take the time to realize He is talking to us. I don't believe things like this are meer coincidences.

Facing the Giants is a must see movie. This movie has been seen by Muslims on air flights, our soldiers overseas, and people are accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior because of this movie.

Low budget Christian movies are not always good viewing but this one is the best I've ever seen. Let me know how you like the movie

The Second Dream

By Chet Nowlen

The second dream is much different than the first. They both were short but there is a lot of meat in both.

This dream happened earlier this year (2003). I could not get it out of head for days. Even now it surfaces and I cannot help but think about it. I'm not sure what it means so if any of you have the gift of intrepetion I would like to hear it.

The setting was a busy street of a big city, like New York City. I have never been to New York City or Chicago so I do not know why I would dream about walking down the side walk so full of people that you have to go with the flow to keep from getting trampled.

I remember as I was walking there was a very tall person on my right that was walking with me. I never looked at him but I knew he was there. As we were walking on the outside of the side walk we spotted Jesus walking towards us on the inside of the sidewalk next to be buildings.

We both recognized Jesus and I could feel the love that both of us had for HIM. In my mind I knew with the other person beside me was thinking and feeling without him saying a word. We both wanted to run up to Jesus and put our arms around him and tell him how much we loved him.

In my dream Jesus was not tall nor handsome. I have always expected him to be over 6' tall and very handsome. He was about 5' 10", as best I could tell. His hair was about shoulder length and he had a beard. As I said, He was not quiet as good looking as I thought He would be. No one else on the street recognized Him, but yet I recognized Him immediately and this person I was walking with recognized HIM at the same time.

Jesus recognized us immediately but he spoke to us in our minds asking us not to say anything about HIS being here. Then I realized we were in a sea of people but only two of us recognized HIM. I remember feeling sad because all these people did not know who HE is. I felt we should fall be down on our faces worshipping HIM, but He did not want to draw attention to HIM. Jesus turned and went into one of the stores and the dream ended.

My intrepetion of the dream is Jesus was on a mission to meet the need of someone in that store. It comforted me to know that HE cares enough to be involved personally with us. Even though we do not see HIM in our every day world does not mean HE is not there. It comforts me to know that when we pray for others HE goes right to where they are and speaks to their need.

These two articles may not perfectly correct gramatically nor perhaps always did I use perfect english but I hope you will not judge them too critically. My prayer is that you will be blessed as I have been blessed just sharing them with you.

I have shared this dream before and I was surprised by what one of my friends had to say. She said this was just a dream because Jesus does not come back to this earth physically until His second coming. The reason I was surprised at her statement is because the Word tells me He was hear when this earth was created and He will be here when the New Earth, New Heaven, and New Jerusalem will come down to this earth. He is God and He can come and go whenever He pleases. When He comes again it will be to put a stop to the war against Israel and to rule and reign for 1000 years.

I believe He is here now and comes and goes as He pleases. His Holy Spirit is here preparing the church for the coming of the Heavenly Kindom (Matthew 4:17, 5:3,10,19,20, 6:10,33, 7:21, 8:11, 9:35){these are but a few scriptures Jesus has to say about the Kingdom of Heaven} that will be here on this earth for eternity.

This same lady also told me, on another occasion, that she thought all Angels were women. I don't know where she gets this kind of thinking but the Bible always speaks of Angels as a masculine gender.

If you have had a dream you feel is from God please feel free to share it.

Don't Worry Everything is Going to Be Alright

By Chet Nowlen

I have had two very distinct dreams that I want to share with you and this is the first one. If you have an intrepetion you would like to share I please feel free to share it.

Usually my dreams are fragmented and disappear shortly after waking up. I usually cannot remember much detail in these fragments as I am awake for even a few minutes. These two dreams I'm going to share with have stayed with me all these years.

The first dream was about 37-years ago. I feel I was saved around 12-years old while attending a Baptist Sunday School, but I did not tell anyone. My mom accepted Christ as her personal saviour and was baptized during that time. I did not make a profession of faith until years later when I married the first time, in 1969.

I made my profession of faith in a small United Methodist Church in Greenville, Mississippi. We had about 65-members on roll and if 25-members attended on Sunday we were doing good. A young man, Charles, formed a choir of a hand full of young people, but he did not stay. The pastor asked me if I would lead the choir since I sang the hymns louder than anyone else, besides himself.

I agreed to take the choir not knowing anything about leading a choir much less anything about music or singing. Both the choir and I were learning the best we could. We had an elderly lady with severe arthritus in both knees playing the organ and another elderly lady playing the piano. Our piano player played notes that were not on the music sheet but we still made a joyful noise.

After a couple of weeks the former choir director, Charles, decided he wanted his choir back. The pastor told him the position had been filled and offered him the opportunity to fill another need (and we had many) in the church. Charles became very angry and threated to beat me up when he caught me away from the church.

Charles' parents were members of the church and lived next door to the church. They were very sweet people and could not understand why their son behaved this way. I expected to be attacked any day but nothing happened for several months.

I was very disturbed because someone wanted to cause me harm. One morning I was either in a trance or a dream, I'm not sure which. I was in my bed, it was dawn because the sunlight was shining in my window. I opened my eyes and I could see fabric in front of my face. The fabric was briliantly white but glistened with pastel colors because of the sun light. The material looked smooth and silky like satan. I remember looking up toward the face to see who was standing there. I could see a face but I could not see the detail of the face. It was as if there were a cloud in front of his face. He looked at me and said, "Do not worry, everything will be alright." I was not sure why he was telling me this but I remember closing my eyes and then waking up. When I opened my eyes he was not there but the lighting in the room was exactly the same.

Angels have stated those same words in the scriptures but I am not sure whether it was an Angel or was it Jesus. I remember the feeling I had at the time was it was Jesus. I did not feel alarmed at all. I just remember how peaceful it felt when he spoke those words.

About two weeks later word came back to me that Charles died in an accident. Charles had joined the Army and was on his way home after boot camp when he lost control of his Voltswagon Beattle. Charles perished in that accident. I was sad to hear that his parent had lost their son but was over joyed when they told me that Charles had accepted Christ as his personal LORD and saviour about two weeks before his death. There had been a lot of prayers for Charles and the LORD moved on his behalf because of those prayers.

Now I know why the LORD came to me in that dream. He was letting me know that everything was now okay for Charles. Charles has been singing and rejoicing in a heavenly choir for over 37-years now. I look forward to seeing him there.
I know my story is simple but I hope you were blessed by it as has to me. Let me know your thoughts whether you think the dream was just a dream or was it really Jesus speaking to me. Was it just and Angel or was it Jesus.

If you have had an experience like this one I would love to share it on this BLOG.

The Duck and The Devil

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said : "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?"

So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Thought for the day and every day thereafter? Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness,etc.)...whatever it is.. You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven.

He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness; He not only forgives you, but He forgets.

It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.

Amen
